Top 5 Sunset Spots on Oak Island

Hard at work? Hard at play? No matter what kind of day you have, nothing beats an ice cold beer to relax and unwind. Oak Island is the definition of ‘laid back’ and we are lucky to have so many awesome watering holes around the island. The places below are my absolute favorite spots to kick back, mingle with locals and visitor alike, and enjoy a few bottles of suds. Most of these places also have a great menu for lunch and dinner, so don’t sleep on the bar snacks! 1. 49th St. Bar and Grill. Whether you're looking to sit at the outside bar and listen to the band or sit inside and watch the game, this place has you covered for whatever your mood strikes. With a mixed selection of craft beers and domestic favorites, 49th street is the perfect, laid back place to post up at the bar and spend a leisurely afternoon or evening. 2. Paul's ok Oak island. The ultimate sports bar, Paul's has a wide selection of over 40 beers on draft, tons of TV's playing all the games, and a selection of arcade games to keep the kids and adults occupied.  The island comma staying open until midnight and serving food late into the evening period with most places on The island closing early you can always count on Paul's to fix you up with a good meal and good beverage.

Scott’s Pick: A pint of Guinness, cheese curds, and they're famous Smash burger.

3. The sea horse eats and drinks. Located at the ocean Crest pier, this is a favorite for locals. Rub elbows with some of oak island's finest folks and enjoy a huge selection of craft beers on tap. Domestic favorites and wine are also available. Check out their calendar of events to See when some awesome local bands are playing and let your inner rock star out at weekly karaoke. Take your drinks out to the bar overlooking the ocean and the pier And listen to the the waves crash.

4. The lazy turtle. Channel your inner Jimmy Buffett. Picture picnic tables and umbrellas on the beach. Get those toes in the sand and hang out for a while beachside at the lazy turtle. Nothing fancy here, just great beer, great food and great service. Bring your pups as this is the perfect place to people watch. If it rains, no worries, there's plenty of space inside that still overlooks our gorgeous beach.

5. The Tipsy Tuna. Picture your typical small town bar serving up cold beer and hot food. Located at the East End of the island, the tipsy tuna ohh formerly known as chasers, is a local and laid back feel and the perfect place to unwind after a hard day's work. Even if that work is just going to the beach! With a rotating tap selection and plenty of cold domestic cans in the fridge, you can't go wrong with a beer and a bite anytime of day.
